Why Mindful Growth Matters
This year is all about forging a new path for AVL. At the end of last year, I excitedly took the reins as CEO, but not without some personal reflection and, if I am honest, even a little self-doubt. As I started to lay down plans for 2023, I began to wonder if I was being too ambitious. The thought of being “too ambitious” gave me pause. It required me to reflect on and revisit my “why.” This reflection was constructive because while I wanted to continue AVL’s trajectory and success, I realized I didn’t want growth at all costs. I want deliberate, intentional, healthy growth – Mindful Growth. And not just for AVL but for the team, our clients, myself, and even…society. Lofty, I know, but I’m perfectly serious about it. I believe this approach breeds sustainability and creates more purposeful outcomes.
Thinking Bigger
To be clear, Mindful Growth does not exclude ambition. Instead, it embraces it in healthy doses. When thinking about growth for 2023, we will double down on things that have worked well for us, our team, and the clients we support. One central area of focus last year was our investment in our team. As a company, we understood and embraced the various work styles by deploying an employment development program and tool called DiSC. This program created tremendous positive ripple effects, reducing employee turnover and improving client satisfaction. When thinking about this year, our plans are bigger. We are expanding our offering and diversifying how we support clients. Hint, we have our sights set beyond finance and accounting.
Growth and Mission + Vision.
While unspoken, I believe the Mindful Growth mantra has always been part of our DNA. This started with our founding roots over 13 years ago and was a core focus as I established our new mission, vision, core values, and brand.
Mindful Growth Matters
Mindful Growth will be a recurring theme I connect to throughout the year. I will share my thinking, experience, and outcomes as I forge this path leading AVL. Going forward, you will not hear me use “I” too much; however, for this first post, I just wanted to share a few personal thoughts on where we are headed.
From now on, it will be “we”, because that’s how WE roll at AVL.
